WW - Heuer Autavia Chronomatic, ref 1163, automatic, 42mm x 47mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back case with bi-directional timing bezel, slotted pump pushers set on opposite side of winding crown, original stainless Gay Freres stainless steel bracelet with fold over safety signed Heuer, original black reverse panda dial with applied silver indices with lumed tips and red painted accents, date aperture at 6, two inset subregisters for minute recording and hour recording, 17J cal 11, s#204348, triple signed. A fabulously complete and well preserved example, watch includes its original crystal. Part of the historically significant partnership for project 99, Heuer along with Hamilton/Buren, Breitling and Dubois-Depraz set out to construct the world's first automatic chronograph, although who was truly "first" is up for endless debate among vintage collectors.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, chronograph functions and resets properly, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, no oxide; excellent-plus dial with light toning to subregisters; unpolished case shows very light wear, still retains its original sunburst finish to bezel, several light dings on the backs of the lugs; original signed Heuer crown shows little wear; good plastic crystal.
